Description

Ages 8–11 (Grades 3–5)

What can you make from a lump of clay? A bowl for your favorite snack, a creature from your imagination, or something nobody’s seen before! Students will get their hands dirty as they pinch, coil, use a clay extruder, and build with slabs to create useful pottery and imaginative sculptures. We’ll carve designs and press lace, stamps, and natural objects into clay to discover surprising patterns and textures.

With step-by-step demonstrations and encouragement to make their own creative choices, young artists will build problem-solving skills, practice patience, and gain confidence as their ideas take shape. There’s plenty of room to experiment, try again, and feel proud of something made with their own two hands!
