Meet Maureen Henriques:

“I make stuff. Really cool stuff.”

That playful spirit guides Maureen’s work as a metalsmith, glass artist, and teacher. She combines metal and glass into one-of-a-kind wearable pieces that evoke emotion, pique curiosity, and are made to be treasured for years to come. Inspired by the contrasts she encounters in everyday life, she is endlessly fascinated by how fire, metal, and glass can be shaped, layered, textured, and transformed.

Maureen teaches at Silvermine School of Art, Brookfield Craft Center, and studios across the country. Whether working with adults discovering their creativity or children experiencing the joy of making, she shares skills and techniques alongside the curiosity, confidence, and encouragement that help students find their own artistic voices.

She holds degrees in photography and graphic design, with studies at Parsons School of Design, Southern Connecticut State University, Western Connecticut State University, and the Gemological Institute of America. Initially self-taught in glass beadmaking, she has continued to develop her practice through classes with accomplished glass and metal artists around the country.

Her work has appeared in Lark Books’ 1000 Beads and publications including Bead & Button, Bead Unique, Beadwork, Lapidary Journal, Stringing, Soda Lime Times, and The Flow. Beyond the studio, she advocates for rhino and elephant conservation. For Maureen, art is as much about connection as it is about creation, a belief she brings to both her making and her teaching.
