Description

Are you ready to get your hands into clay and bring your ideas to life? Our Youth Hand-Building Classes are the perfect opportunity to explore the world of pottery while learning fun and creative techniques. In this class, you’ll dive into functional and non-functional pottery, crafting pieces that are as unique as you are. NO CLASS MAY 6th, 2025.

Throughout the course, you’ll master a variety of hand-building techniques including:

  • Pinching: Shape clay into organic, free-form pieces using just your hands.
  • Coiling: Build up pottery piece by piece using coils of clay to create textured, dynamic designs.
  • Extruding: Use a press to form consistent shapes that can be used in a wide range of pottery styles.
  • Slab Construction: Create flat slabs of clay to assemble into larger, more structured pieces.

You’ll also have the chance to add a personal touch to your work through surface design. Experiment with stamping, carving, and rolling out patterns using materials like lace and natural objects to give your pieces depth, texture, and visual interest.

This hands-on class will provide plenty of time to experiment with new techniques and let your creativity run wild. Each student will leave with a variety of works—both functional and decorative—that reflect their own artistic voice.

Join us for a fun and inspiring journey in pottery, and take home creations that are uniquely yours!
