Description

We'll cover the fundamentals of threading, tie ups and treadling using four shaft Huck Lace, then transition into designing six blocks using eight shafts with Huck Lace's unique plus/minus template. I'll demonstrate how a Huck Lace motif can be implemented to create pattern across cloth. Weavers with drafting software are welcome to bring their computers along to play!

About the Artist

After a career in graphic design, I gravitated toward weaving roughly 15 years ago when I came to appreciate the similarities between designing and weaving patterns on the loom. I love learning and studying weave structures and find great joy in empowering intermediate weavers to design their own cloth.

My teaching experience has allowed me to present workshops at large conferences such as Convergence and MAFA, as well as with weaving guilds across the U.S. Additionally, I have designed weaving patterns for WEBS, and have a Facebook group called Modern Weaver with over 10,000 international members. My work has been published in Handwoven and Little Looms magazines. You can also find me on my website at www.modernweaver.com.
