Description

Interacting with Color with Fritz Horstman

There’s more to color than meets the eye! Join artist, educator, and author Fritz Horstman for a hands-on exploration of the surprising ways colors influence one another. Drawing from Josef Albers’s celebrated Interaction of Color and Horstman’s own book, Interacting with Color, we’ll experiment with simultaneous contrast, discover how colors can create the illusion of transparency, and see how a single color can appear to change depending on its surroundings.

Come ready to look closely, experiment, and rethink what you see. Whether you work in clay, metal, fiber, or simply love color, this workshop offers fresh perspectives to bring to your creative practice. No prior experience is required.

About the Instructor: Fritz Horstman is an artist, educator, and curator based in Bethany, Connecticut, where he serves as Education Director at the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation. He is the author of Interacting with Color: A Practical Guide to Josef Albers’s Color Experiments, which brings Albers’s influential approach to life through hands-on exploration and discovery.
