Description

In this class students will work on tapestry looms supplied by the teacher as part of the materials fee. They will learn how to warp the loom and begin learning tapestry techniques in the Gobelins tradition (the traditional techniques use throughout northern Europe during the Middle Ages through modern times). Students will learn how to build shapes through angles and curves that will allow them to express images in tapestry. Continuing students will have a brief refresher before weaving something from their own design.

All Students will need to bring:

  • a notebook, pencil, scissors, and weft yarns to consider using after doing some exercises with weft provided by the instructor.

NEW Students must pre-purchase Tapestry Bobbins from Schacht Spindle Company (sold as a set of 3). These are NOT provided in the New student kit.

* If you are a returning student you do not need to pre-purchse the "New Student Kit". Please bring with you your copper frame, loom, cotton seine twine for warp, scissors, measuring tape, tapestry bobbins and various fine wools for weft. Fine wools are best because we can blend them to get the proper size for weft.
