Description

Repair or embellish your beloved denim or other favorite garment with Sashiko's bold and geometric hand-stitching.  Whith humble beginnings in rural Japan, Sashiko's running stitch insulated work garments for warmth and longevity.  Sutdents will learn how to patch and repair a rip or hole, reinforce a worn area, draw a grid, and stitch a traditional Sashiko pattern of their choice.

Bring in one or two garments from your closet to assess for mending or decorating.  Areas to repair should not exceed four inches.  Medium-weight, woven cotton fabrics work best; denim jeans and denim jackets, cotton or linen shirts, pants, shorts, skirts or dresses.

$25 class kit includes; Sashiko grid stencil, circle templates, one pair of Olympus Sashiko needles, needle threader, skein of Sashiko thread, pattern guide, and instructions.$15 required materials fee - sustainably sourced patches plus access to all the communal tools and materials.
