Description

In this workshop, we will explore the possibilities of powder coating in wearable art. More commonly used in industry, powder coating is a fabulous way to incorporate color into your work. Workshop participants will get the chance to explore this technique by making a number of samples that will then inform a final project. We will focus on creating a brooch and pinback mechanisms will be discussed, however, students are welcome to create any project they desire.

Students should bring:

  • Sketchbook or Notebook
  • Pen or pencil
  • Silver wire for rivets (optional)
  • Variety of brass, copper, silver tubing or wire for rivets and project (optional)
  • Respirator with vapor cartridges (This is to be worn while curing the pieces in a toaster over as the vapor emitted is toxic. If weather permits, this can be set up outside.)
