Description

On & Off the Wheel: Exploring Functional Forms

This class is intended to help students develop ideas of form and design in their pottery. Students will learn different techniques in alterations of form, surface treatmnts, and final touches that make each piece stand out! Classes will include demonstrations, group discussions, and one-on-one critiques. Some prior experience in ceramics is recommended - general skills of hand building and/or throwing are required. 

Required tools include:

-Basic Tool Kit

-Brushes in assorted sizes/thickness

-Notebook/Sketchpad

Suggested/Recommended Tools:

-Potter's blade or fettline knife - great for slab work and handbuilding

-Mud tool ribs (come in various firmness and shapes. Yellow and green are recommended. 

-Serrated Metal Rib (makes scoring texture with a couple of quick swipes)

-Rubber Tip Tools (help lcean up attachments from slipping and scoring)

-Mud Tools' white clean up spong (another great tool to clean up attachments)
