Description

Create a unique and versatile bandana or neckerchief with Sashiko Japanese Embroidery. Originally a quilting and mending practice, Sashiko's  simple running stitch decorates garments and textiles with bold, geometric designs inspired by nature, art, and architecture. In this workshop, we will handle Sashiko needles, prepare Sashiko thread, draw out patterns and floral motifs with templates. Using our "small stabs" stitching strategy, will embellish and transform a soft cotton square into a striking, functional accessory. Choose from a selection of traditional Sashiko patterns and seasonal floral motif stencils. Patterns in clude; ocean waves, linked treasures, wild grasses, triangle scales, or large flower stitch. We'll provide everything you need. ALL SKILL LEVELS WELCOME!

$40 required material fee includes: one pair of Olympus Sashiko needles, needle threader, chambray cotton square, one skein of thread, and resources supply list. Plus access to all necessary supplies; colorful communal threads, fabric markers & pens, pattern and floral templates for drawing out designs for stitching.
