Description

A Pysanka is a Ukrainian Easter Egg decorated with traditional Ukrainian fold designs using a wax-resist method. The designs are not painted on but drawn on with beeswax. Dye is applied and then the color is covered with more wax. Multiple colors are added similar to batik.

In this workshop, you will learn to make your own Pysanka using a special tool, a kitska, beeswax and dye. You can make a traditional Ukrainian design, or try one of your own! Join me to learn this century old art!

What to bring to class:

A pencil, old terry cloth dish towel (this will get stained), thin disposable gloves (if desired), small notebook or paper, a short taper candle in a sturdy candle holder (no more than 4-6 inches)

Additional materials supplied.
